When someone is moving away to begin a life in a different country, state, or even just the next town over, you probably don't want to be giving them a bunch of stuff, since they'll already be busy packing up what they have. But sometimes a small, physical reminder of what they're leaving behind can be a perfect way to say goodbye.
A small Giclée Canvas Print is just the thing to let them keep a light, non-breakable memento of their old world. You know them well enough to find a beautiful picture - yours, theirs, or borrowed - that they will cherish and be proud to display for decades!
At KeenART Media, we take the utmost care with every order. You select the image, edge color, canvas depth, and size, and we do the rest! We'll even ship the print directly to the lucky recipient.
PICKING THE PERFECT GIFT
It's always more fun to receive a creative, personal gift than a generic one. And it's usually just as much fun for the gift giver to pick out a really special, meaningful present.
The image, the size, the display - these are all important things to consider when choosing wall decor as a gift. It should be something the recipient will love, not just something you'd like yourself! Here are some tips for selecting the best piece to congratulate someone on their upcoming journey, and wish them well:
- Unless you've personally been helping them move, you probably don't know much about the decor scheme of their new house - even they might not know, yet. Therefore, something classic, without any difficult-to-match colors or strange dimensions, is probably the best choice. You don't want to force their decorating hand just so they can display your gift.
- Maybe they already have a color scheme in mind for one of the rooms. In this case, pick something simple that matches those colors.
- Draw on what you already know about them. Just because they're jetting off doesn't mean they're becoming a different person. Match your image choice to a hobby or profession (gardening, painting, animal photography, etc), or go with a cityscape of a location you know they've always loved, or visit often. Consider a small photo of their old house, their favorite park in the old area, or a picture of the two of you together, if they're moving far away.
- Stay small. It's easier to pack, and less likely to be damaged. If you have a great idea that calls for a larger piece, why not get them a multi-panel print? By spliting a single photograph or painting into multiple panels, you make it that much simpler and safer to pack, and it will have an edgy, white-space look when hung.
- Once you've settled on the image, consider the presentation. Do they already have a number of canvases packed and waiting to be rehung in the new home? If so, you might choose to stick with that display, or pick out one of our beautiful canvas floater frame to accentuate the picture. Thinking of what they have - that you know they plan to keep - is also a good way to choose an image.
- Check with them. It may not be as much of a surprise that way, but at least you'll know what they want. If they ask you to please refrain from buying them a physical gift, why not let them do the picking when they're all settled in? We offer Gift Certificates in custom denominations. We can send the recipient the code via email, or print a physical certificate and mail it straight to them! Make sure you remember to give us their new address!
Whatever your budget or relationship with the recipient, put some serious thought into the gift. Your efforts will be recognized and appreciated.
